WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

DEAR CHURCH FAMILY,

I believe our renovation project can serve our church by helping us better fulfill our God-given mission to glorify Him at home and around the world. Thus, I am excited to announce that we have chosen for this campaign to coincide with the launch of a church-wide vision entitled “Raise Up, Reach Out.”

Starting in September, I will begin a sermon series laying out the biblical foundation for this vision. But I want to give you a quick preview. First, we want to “raise up.” Throughout Scripture, God raises up people for His glory and calls on His people to do the same. As we look around our community, we cannot help but think of the words of our Lord, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38). And yet, as we do so, we must recognize that our call is not just to gain converts, but to make disciples. So, we want to raise up disciples, especially across the generations. As the Psalmist says, “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4).

Next, we want to “reach out.” Church, simply put, we are the answer to the prayer in Matthew 9. And we are not simply to keep the mighty works of the Lord to ourselves. God, in His goodness and love, has not His glory or this community without a witness. As the Jesus was sent into the world, we have been sent into our community (John 20:21). So as we “raise up,” let’s reach out.

Let’s “seek the welfare” of our city (cf. Jeremiah 29:7), proclaiming and displaying the gospel as we echo the words of Psalm 67:3, “Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!”

Included in this website is more information about the renovation component of “Raise Up, Reach Out.” We pray it answers some of the questions you might have. Please read it over and begin to bathe this project in prayer.

In the coming days and weeks, someone from our Prayer Team will contact you. They’re going to share more about “Raise Up, Reach Out” and answer any questions you might have about how the renovation fits into this vision. We’re not a business or a PR firm. We’re a church and our commitment is to God, His glory, His gospel, His mission. So our Prayer Team is going to point us to Him and lead us to seek His will and guidance as we go through this journey together.

We’re excited about the future of Green Level Baptist Church. We have such a rich and wonderful history. God has used our church for His glory in this community for over 145 years. And yet, in so many ways, we believe this may be our Esther moment. So, let’s come together and seek His glory. Let’s “Raise Up, Reach Out.”

Grace and peace,
